Personalized Mentoring: Building Confidence, Creating Connections

At Under The Umbrella, we're more than just a youth service – we're a nurturing space for young LGBTQIA+ individuals to grow and thrive. Our dedicated outreach team offers 1-to-1 mentoring led by Dakota, a seasoned professional with a heart for supporting youth from all walks of life.

Meet Dakota
Dakota brings over 5 years of experience in 1-to-1 mentoring, having worked with esteemed charities like Ground Works and Fields Of Dreams. As a foster carer, she truly understands what it means to be "in with the children." Her approach is warm, understanding, and tailored to each individual.

The 8-Week Mentoring Program
Our 8-week 1-to-1 mentoring program is carefully designed to help young people express their feelings, boost their confidence, overcome obstacles, and ultimately, find a sense of community within our safe space. Sessions are scheduled during the school day for convenience.

What We Cover:
- **Week 1**: Getting to know the young person and their goals for the sessions. We offer engaging activities to build rapport.
- **Weeks 2-7**: Focused on building confidence and addressing specific areas of growth.
- **Week 8**: While it may mark the end of the formal program, it's not goodbye – it's an invitation to join our Wednesday support groups and continue the journey together.

Rest assured, all conversations are confidential, with safeguarding at the forefront of our approach. We prioritize creating a safe, respectful environment where young people can explore, learn, and flourish.
